What are Syringomas? (汗管瘤是甚麼?)

Syringomas are benigh sweat duct tumours, and they are harmless. Their appearance is yellowish or skin-coloured round and firm nodules. Their size is usually around 1-3 mm in diameter. They are usually found on the eyelids and appear in clusters. Other body parts that may have syringomas included face, armpits, upper chest, umbilicus and vulva

One condition is called eruptive syringomas, in which the patients may develop a crop of multiple syringomas abruptly on the chest or lower abdomen. Xanthelasma, trichoepitheliomas or basal cell skin cancer may look like syringomas.

Electrosurgery (or called diathermy) or laser can be used to remove the syringomas. However, the treatment can result in formation of small scars, and they can recur. If the syringomas recur, the patients can choose the same method to treat them.
